A Trip from Delhi to Goa Marked with Fun, Frolic and Unique Experiences

A Trip from Delhi to Goa Marked with Fun, Frolic and Unique Experiences

A trip to Goa is a dream for many. This amazing beachy trip has a lot to offer. So, if you are planning to go to Goa from Delhi, then here is my experience that might be of help to you. I was in 2nd year of my graduation, and the examinations had just ended. Soto refreshes our exhausted moods, my friends and I planned a vacation to Goa also known as ‘Tourist Paradise’.

How I booked my tickets and accommodation?

Well, being students, we were not much financially loaded. Thereby we planned to book train journey from Delhi to Goa through Paytm as it helped us to make last-minute reservations in a super-fast train with minimum halts.

Goa is divided into North and South Goa, and we spent our first four days in North Goa and last three days in South Goa. We made all our bookings before our arrival through Oyo Rooms as they had the most attractive deals with every kind of budgets.

After our seven days trip, we had to reach back to Delhi at the earliest as the college was about to commence. So, we booked air-tickets for the return journey. Surprisingly, MakeMyTrip coupons were amazing for air tickets. I was quite excited about my air travel as it was the first time I was supposed to commute by air.

How did I start packing for my trip?

I had a word with my friends, and we finally decided to have a checklist of things that we thought were important to take with us on this trip. Here are the things that I packed for the tour.

  1. Swimwear: Beaches is the first thing that comes to mind when we talk about Goa. So obviously we planned to spend a good amount of time on the beaches. So, I kept one piece of swimwear.
  2. Footwear: Along the sea-shore, one would require a cool pair of slippers or flip-flops, which should be comfortable enough as you might be walking a lot.
  3. Shorts: Packing up 3-4 pairs of shorts was a mandated requirement as one would not wear jeans or chinos to visit the beachside.
  4. Partywear: Attending trendy night parties in clubs need proper attire, so we packed jeans/trousers, shirts, shoes as well.
  5. Sunscreen: This was important to keep as we did not want our skin to tan.
  6. Sunglasses: There are numerous small shops in Goa to purchase sunglasses at a dirt-cheap rate but they are of poor quality, so better buy a branded one beforehand from online websites.
  7. Hats/Caps: Goa has a vast market for such apparel. I had one so packet it, but one can choose it by exploring Goa local bazaars as well.
  8. Camera: A trip is incomplete without capturing the moments, so for this trip,I packed the camera to click all the memories and make them permanent.

Well, I received great help to manage my budgets as I got many of the above-listed with Paytm discounts.

Planning the Journey

Delhi: We were super excited to begin our journey and reach on-time to New Delhi Railway Station as the train was to depart at early morning hours. Being already in Delhi, we booked an Ola cab before our train timings and were successful in reaching timely. We followed the same plan while our return from Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Goa: For our journey to the pre-booked OYO Room in Goa from Dabolim Railway Station, wehad booked a personal cabwith the help of hotel personnel. It was of great help as Goa does not entertain Ola, Uber services, and Local taxi services have quite higher rates. Thus, OYO Rooms seemed to work as a great help for our to-and-fro journeys.

Days Spent in Goa

After our 28 hours super-exciting journey in the train where we witnessed beautiful Hills of Maharashtra, especially Nasik, we were about to enter Goa. The state of Goa had a stunning landscape with lush green forest areas which we truly enjoyed through our train windows. Also, we were able to witness the change of weather as western India had a moderate climate comparing to cold weather in Delhi in winters.

Day 1

The day one of our Delhi-Goa trip began with our early morning arrival at the Dabolim Railway Station in Goa where we were escorted by the OYO Rooms staff. The journey to the hotel was fascinating because it was full of spectacular hills and water bodies separated from the Arabian Sea.

On reaching our hotel near Baga Beach,we felt highly amazed as the hotel was sea facing. Though we were pretty tired and to break our monotony of journey we slept quite a few hours in the beautiful rooms of our hotel.

Now after having rest, we were ready to hit to the beach and start our excursion. Near our hotel was the Baga Beach which was very beautiful and attracted many tourists. The beach had all sort of water sports which we had imagined throughout our journey such as Banana Boat, Speed Boat, Para-Sailing, Scuba-Diving, etc. Our OYO Rooms hotel had a tie-up with the water-sports management; thereby; we were able to do all the activities at a reasonable cost, which was much lesser than what other tourists were paying.

Baga itself had much to offer to add to the night-life fun in Goa. There was a complete street of clubs which played loud music and the overall atmosphere was simply awesome. Among all the clubs and retro bars, the must-visit is Tito’s club at Baga Beach. We spent our first night at Tito’s club and had a grand party.

After that, we went back to our hotel. As all these excursions were at a walking distance from our hotel we didn’t need a vehicle to commute for our first day.

Day 2

Now we had to explore other places as we had already covered Baga Beach. There were options for renting a vehicle in Goa. But due to peak season, all vehicles were unavailable as they are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. So we planned to book a Zoomcar for the remaining three days.

By using a few Zoomcar coupons we managed to book a car at a nominal rate which had fuel charges included in our booking. After a few hours of booking, a sedan car came at our door-step but we had to paya few extra bucks as delivery charges.

Now we had everything to begin our day, so we started with Calangute Beach which is another good option to visit as it is surrounded by many Indian restaurants. We had our brunch there with local beer which was very exhilarating, though that place was not much exciting other than good food. Also, we observed Calangute Beach was quite expensive for water sports than Baga Beach.

After that, we headed towards Candolim which is one of the most beautiful places in Goa. Fort Aguada is near Candolim Beach, we directly went to the fort which was built in year 1612. It has a history related to giving water supply to ships in old times that is why it has been named Aguada, which means water. Aguada Fort is one of the must-visit places in Goa. Many Indian movies such as Dil Chahta Hai had been shot over there. We also posed there in the same way and clicked our memories.

We were starving when we got free from visiting the fort and that place does not have any restaurants so we decided to go back to Candolim and have our meal in a huge Domino’s restaurant built over there. Domino’s have always been my favorite and to my surprise it had the same mesmerizing taste in Goa also as it has in Delhi. We didn’t miss the chance to save and used Domino’s coupons to have some discounts.

After gobbling the pizzas heartily, we went to Candolim Beach where we took a sunbath in shacks with low-priced beer. We were thinking to plan for the night when we pitched into Agoda.com where we got bookings for cruise party. The cruise party was one of its kind and an awesome experience as the cruise had a casino in it. India does not allow casinos on Indian land. So, such casinos are all set on water through the concept of cruise ships. We played poker and few games there but didn’t earn much through it.

It was already 3 a.m. when we got free from the cruise party and we were extremely tired so we went back to our hotel at that time.

Day 3

On our third day in Goa, we woke up quite late, owing to the heavy-duty partying that we did on the last day. After having a detoxifying breakfast, we decided on our next North Goa destination; Vagator Beach. We had heard plenty of stories about Vagator and its unmatched beauty, and it was about time to witness the beach for ourselves.

Vagator is just 11 km from Candolim. To make some savings on our 11 km car ride, we used Zoomcar coupons again. It’s such a good thing that we can bank on services like Zoomcar and PayTM these days, as they allow us to save a lot of money, especially when we are travelling. Anyway, after a short 11 km ride, we finally made it to Vagator.

Vagator is spectacular for its natural beauty. The beach is made spectacular not just by its crescent shape and the gushing waters of the Arabian Sea, but also thanks to the beauty of the cracked rocks that surround the beach. It was still winter in Goa when we went to Vagator, which is why there was no dearth of people around the beach. There were a few small music festivals happening, so we decided to go and check them out. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time, as we were treated to various musical genres by the performers, many of them independent artists.

After our music festival experience came to an end, we decided to try out some of the local food on offer. We headed into a local shack and tried out some famous Goan dishes like Goan fish curry and pork vindaloo. It was a sumptuous food experience, after which we decided to spend the night in Vagator. We used Cleartrip coupons to find decent rooms and got some great deals. We had only one more day left in North Goa, and we decided that our next destination would be Arambol Beach. Due to the heavy partying on the night before, we decided to go to sleep early in Vagator, with all of us in our beds by 10 PM.

Day 4

Once we had finished our breakfast on our final day in North Goa, Zoomcar was once again on our minds as we looked for a car to take us to Arambol. We found a car at a great price to cover the 18 km journey and very soon, we were on our way towards Arambol, ready to experience what we had heard is Goa’s most bohemian destination.

We had never felt the kind of bohemian, hippie vibe that we felt at Arambol. The beach was full of artists, musicians and yoga practitioners. Musicians, both domestic and international, were in full swing, jamming with their guitars and cajons and conjuring up some really immersive tunes. Most of the people there were really friendly too, as it did not take us much time to gel with them. We spent quality time with them, and once we had some food, we got going to check out the sights.

Very close to the Arambol beach lie two other magical beaches known as Keri and Mandrem. These beaches were much more peaceful than Arambol, and we spent some quiet time there. We also wanted to check out at least one church in North Goa, as Goa has some really well-built churches. We got to know of the Mount Carmel Church and walked our way. First built in 1780, this church has a rich and treasured history, and is one of the most important religious places for the people of Arambol. It boasts of simple but yet very quaint and beautiful architecture.

We ended our last day in Arambol by having yet another authentic Goan dinner. We used OYO coupons again to search for a good hotel and once again, we skipped partying and called it a night quite early. Up next was South Goa!

Day 5

After a fulfilling night’s rest, we had breakfast and set out for South Goa’s famous Colva beach. It was a 65 km journey, so we needed a car that would take us there at an affordable rate, as we were already getting a bit short on money. Fortunately, Zoomcar came to our aid yet again and we found a car that would take us all the way till Colva at a reasonable price.

Once we reached Colva and saw the beach with our own eyes, we could not help but feel a Calangute vibe from the place. While the beaches are miles apart, they do share this common vibe and feel. Colva was quite crowded and there was a party atmosphere all around. We found out that this beach is pretty famous for its full moon parties. What great luck it was for us to be there on the night of a full moon. After two nights without any parties, we decided that our first night in South Goa was one that we should make memorable.

We started partying early in the evening and as night approached, the energy of a place went to a whole new level. The party went on till early in the morning and even though we had partied for so long, the whole energy of the place kept us going. What made the morning even more magical was the fact that we got to see some dolphins for the very first time in our lives. Yes, Colva is also famed for its dolphin sightings, but you have to be up and about in the morning if you have to sight the delightful creatures that dolphins are.

Day 6

Even though the party had come to an end in the early hours of the morning in Colva, we realized that we only had two more days in Goa. The energy levels were finally waning and we felt quite tired. However, we did a vote and it turned out that most of us did not want to stay in Colva. We had kept all our luggage in a shack the last night, where the manager assured us that nothing would go missing. We went to the shack, collected our belongings and headed out yet again, this time to Varca.

Varca is a much more peaceful place compared to Colva, as it is still not very popular with tourists. After another night of crazy partying, we decided that our next destination would have to be peaceful. We reached Varca and used OYO coupons yet again to confirm our hotel booking online. Fortunately, we got them quite fast and immediately hit the sacks, as were quite exhausted from the party. After we had slept and replenished our batteries, we decided to check Varca out and see what was special about this place.

Varca’s beach is simply spectacular. Its sand is almost golden in colour and palm trees dot this golden sand, giving it a special feel. What makes Varca’s beach even more peaceful is the fact that there are barely any hawkers here, which ensures a beach without clutter and congestion. Owing to its low popularity with tourists, Varca still retains an old-world Goan charm.

After spending several hours on the beach, we decided to dine at one of the local restaurants, after which we hit the Dunes casino. We weren’t too ambitious with our dealings at the casino as we were already travelling on a budget, but still, it made for a unique experience. We had a little to drink after our casino experience, after which we resigned to our beds, knowing that we had only one day left in Goa.

Day 7

The final day of our Goa trip had finally come and we were quite sad that we had to go back to the hustle and bustle of Delhi on the following day. However, we decided to raise our spirits and make the most of our last day in Goa. We set out from Varca and headed to Bogmalo. Bogmalo was a practical choice as it was less than 4 km from the airport, which would make it easy for us to catch our flight back to Delhi.

We booked yet another Zoomcar ride for the 28 km journey to Dabolim. We reached just before noon and first booked hotel rooms using MakeMyTrip offers. After we had completed all our formalities at the hotel, we dumped our luggage and set out to explore Bogmalo.

Bogmalo was the smallest beach that we had been to on our Goa trip so far. But small does not mean bad. The beach has its own unique vibe and it had something really special too. After spending some time in the local shacks, we came to know that Bogmalo is the best place to try out scuba diving in Goa. Now, scuba diving was something that we had never ever done before, and all of us really wanted to sign off from Goa on the highest possible note. So it was no surprise that all of us wanted to do it. We quickly got in touch with an operator and we did it!

Diving is a spectacular experience, especially in the crystal clear blue waters of the Arabian Sea. The operators are extremely professional as well, and there are no safety issues that you need to worry about. The evening came quite quickly and we partied for some time, but not too intensely, as we had a flight to catch early in the morning. The amazing Goan dinner helped us sober up, after which we went to sleep, ready to bid goodbye to Goa next morning.

The next day we arranged for a car and headed to the airport. Thanks to the confirmed online ticket booking we had done before the trip began, it was a hassle-free experience as we flew back from Goa to Delhi. In the end, I must say that our Goa experience was nothing short of grand. While most of it had to do with Goa itself, we can’t feel thankful enough for the RedBus offers & discount coupons that helped us complete the trip without bankrupting us. If you ever go to Goa, make sure to take advantage of these services and make your trip easy on your wallet.
